What is an SCAC Special Change of Administrative Contact?
When you lose your CIRA account information, and your administrative contact email address is also defunct for your .ca domain name Registrant, this is one of the two processes (MCAC or SCAC) that can be used to provide identification, and to ultimately have CIRA change the Admin Contact Email Address for your .ca domain name Registrant. The SCAC is the preferred method, as it is shorter, and less time consuming (read: hassle).

What are the steps for the SCAC?
- Step 1
You must submit via fax, a declaration form which states that you are individual who is the Registrant, in the case of .ca domain name Registrants who are individuals (i.e., Registrant type is Canadian Citizen, or Resident Canadian, or Agent thereof as described in CIRA's Canadian Presence Requirements document, or which states that you are the authorized contact for the organization (i.e., Partnership, Corporation, etc.)
The form must be duly witnessed and must include all pertinent information, including the .ca domain name(s) which are attached to the .ca Registrant. It must be faxed to Canadian Domain Name Services Inc. at 413-581-7439 and it must be accompanied by a legible copy of a government issued photo identification document, such as a drivers license.
- Step 2
Upon receipt of these documents, CDNS will use all commercial efforts to ascertain as to their authenticity and may require at CDNS's discretion, further documentation to support the MCAC form submitted along with the accompanying Photo ID.
- Step 3
Canadian Domain Name Services Inc. will submit to CIRA, an SCAC request, which will trigger an email to the new admin contact along with a token, and a URL within the email, which the individual must visit to approve the SCAC request. Upon the Registrant or its agent confirming the request, CIRA will change the Administrative contact information for the .ca domain name Registrant in question.

What if I have multiple CIRA .ca Domain Name Registrants?
If you have multiple Registrants, and you need to make an SCAC change to more than one of them, then a separate set of SCAC documents must be received for each of the CIRA Registrants involved. Therefore, where you are asked to list your .ca domain names associated with the CIRA Registrant, on the SCAC form, please only list the .ca domain names which are associated with the one Registrant for which the SCAC applies to.
You may wish to ask us to merge some of your .ca domain names which belong to another Registrnat entity that is also under your control, to centralize them all into one CIRA Registrant, rather than having to submit multiple SCAC requests as separate requests. If you need help consolidating your .ca domains in such a manner, please contact us via phone or email for assistance.
